Egyptian marble and granite are among the noblest and finest building materials and have been used in our country for the past seven thousand years.

The Egyptians used a variety of materials in constructing buildings and monuments, including large quantities of marble and granite. They preferred the black, gray, and red granites of Aswan.

The quarries around Aswan reveal unusual techniques used by the ancient Egyptians to cut and prepare the stones that were used in building the pyramids of Giza. These quarries are still used until now.

Egyptian antiquities made of marble and granite are desirable and required, and collectors and museums seek to collect them because they are precious and long-lived, original, beautiful and rare, and they represent ancient Egyptian times.

The word “granite” comes from the Latin word for granules that have a coarse structure. Granite is a light-colored volcanic rock with granules large enough to be visible to the naked eye as they form from the slow crystallization of molten materials below the Earth’s surface. It consists of coarse grains of quartz (10-50%), potassium feldspar, and sodium feldspar. These minerals make up more than 80% of the rock. Other common minerals include mica (muscovite and biotite) and hornblende.
